IPBTV serves as the official television channel for the Presbyterian Church of Brazil, providing a continuous 24-hour stream of diverse Christian content tailored for audiences of varying age groups.

The Presbyterian Church of Brazil has its origins in the broader family of Reformed churches worldwide. Established in 1859, it emerged from missionary initiatives by the Presbyterian Church in the United States and is deeply rooted in the 16th-century Swiss and Scottish Reformations led by notable figures such as Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin, and John Knox.

The term "Presbyterian" derives from the governance structure of the church, which is administered by "presbyters" or elders, elected democratically by their respective local congregations.

Currently, the Presbyterian Church of Brazil boasts approximately 4,200 churches, 6,000 pastors, and a membership base of around 844,000 individuals. It also oversees nine seminaries, two hospitals, and 90 educational institutions, including the prestigious Mackenzie Presbyterian University, known for its historical excellence in education.
